For the novel Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonneblick, I gave students the choice between taking a traditional test or creating the interactive notebooks. I gave students the topics for their notebook pages and let them create the rest. They came up with some awesome pages. Many of them even included QR codes to videos, presentations, and websites. Students used these notebooks to create journal entries, cite evidence from the text, describe characters, and to connect the plot to research they did regarding music and health related topics. Here are some pictures of the pages.
We have been learning about sentence structures all year. What are the different types of sentence structures, what makes up each type of sentence, what kinds of relationships can be shown by using different sentences, what about interior punctuation? The list of sentence knowledge seems to go on forever. I wanted to let me students show me what they knew in any way they wanted. I had everything from poster boards, to create a tests, boardgames, and even Minecraft museums. This cookbook though blew my mind. So creative! So well put together!
